When my doctor told us that I had cancer, he being a surgeon told us that the choice was a prostatectomy. Now you most likely know already, the side affects to that are not a lot fun. They decided early on that this was not the route they desired to take. There had to be better options. As it turns out there’s plenty of. Injection of high doses of vitamin C, also known as ascorbate or ascorbic acid, reduced tumor weight and growth rate up to 50% in rat brain samples, ovarian cancer and pancreas, said researchers from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The researchers track the anti-cancer effects of ascorbate on the formation of hydrogen peroxide in the extracellular fluid surrounding the tumors. Normal cells unaffected. The results were published in the journal planned Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Tobacco plants may be used to make certain cancer vaccine for people who suffer from a chronic type of lymphoma, according to one study.

Drug, which will develop the patient’s own immune reaction to fight the tumor cells themselves, made using a new approach that turns genetically engineered tobacco plants into vaccine factories particular. Lymphoma is a type of cancer involving cells of the immune system.

“This is the first time a kind of plant has been used to produce the protein to be injected to humans,” said Dr. Ron Levy of Stanford University School of Medicina in California, whose research was published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“This will be a way to cure cancer without the impact,” said Levy.
