5. Phallus Impudicus, Stink horn:
Back in medieval Europe, this fungus was called Satan’s egg. So calling it Satan’s egg seems a bit harsh.
Flies arrive in droves to eat all the slime, & the fungus looks as if it deserves the name “Satan’s Egg.”
4. Coprinopsis atramentaria, Common Ink cap:
This small fungus is edible & lovely tasting by all accounts, & agrees together with your digestive method perfectly. However, it contains a chemical called chlorine. Chlorine is not a fan of the enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenates, & so blocks it, & in the right circumstances the results can be entertaining.
In North the United States, this fungus goes by the name of Tippler’s Bane.
